When anyone speaks about the beauty of Nigeria in the 70s, they will always remember the Fulani people who made Nigeria interesting.
Who are Fulbe, Fulani or Fule people?
The Fulani people are nomadic, who move from place to place rather than settling in one place. We have known them as cattle-herders who believe in pastoralism.
Over the years, they have spread to East Sudan, West Africa, and Central Africa. .They spread to many other countries as an ethnic group. For example, Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania, Sudan, Gambia, Benin, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast (Cote D’Ivoire), Togo, Cameroon, Burkina basso, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia to suffice.
They are known to be the first group in West Africa to convert to Islam through holy war or jihads.Their lives revolve around cattle herding and grazing land, which is why they go about looking for the best grazing land to maintain their cattle. Their common food is nyiiri (like porridge) and takai haako (tomato soup and spices). These people in the 70s were friends of Nigerians. Some Fulani men were gatemen, wives were friends who made our hair elegantly and some others entertained with magical knives and other show of entertainment.
Today, why are Fulani herdsmen killing innocent people in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Plateau, Rivers and other parts of Nigeria?
You know the feeling when you are so close to good Fulani people all your life but one day, the world start receiving shocking news on how Fulani herdsmen are murderers who kill pregnant women and babies. You will not believe it. The president of Nigeria is a Fulani man who has friends and families amongst his tribe too. President Buhari ordered hundreds of armed forces on IPOB (Biafra group), do the same and save lives, or else people will take drastic steps.
