Nigeria has announced 5 new cases of this noxious pandemic, coronavirus.

Nigeria reported the first case of coronavirus just recently until it was reported that the first Italian man who travelled from Milan to Lagos with the virus has recovered.

After this, a second case was reported plus the third case of a woman in her 30s who returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom on the 13th of March 2020, after a short holiday.

Five new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed early today, Wednesday, 18th March 2020, in Nigeria.

It appears that one case is confirmed in Ekiti and four cases in Lagos. We have not confirmed the sixth case in Katsina yet. This brings coronavirus cases in Nigeria to eight in number, unfortunately.  All five cases had a travel history to the United Kingdom and the United States America, they are all under supervision.

The national center for disease control in Nigeria

The country’s national center for disease control said 13 countries are restricted to enter Nigeria, especially those with more than 1.000 cases of coronavirus. This restriction will take effect on Friday, the 20th of March 2020.

It is now confirmed that Nigeria has joined other African countries who are closing borders and shutting their airports from international flights coming in from countries with high cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus).

Tunisia has suspended all international flights and closed the borders, Sudan also sealed off all land borders, seaports, land crossings and airports. It also banned gathering in markets and other places with a strict curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.

Nigeria now bans entry for travellers from 13 countries including the United Kingdom, United States of America, China where it started, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands, and Spain. These travelling restrictions apply to countries with more than 1.000 cases of coronavirus.

Remember that some people do not show symptoms which is a challenge at this point.

Those five people who tested positive to coronavirus would have obviously been in contact with people, but what happens to those people who cannot be traced? Those people might not show any symptoms as they proliferate the virus inadvertently.
